Only an ignorant handful of people who do not have any idea about soccer might not have heard about this event which takes place every year. 32 teams spread evenly in 8 groups will have their eyes set on a common objective... to with the golden cup & bring it back home. The popularity of WC 2010 can be gauged from the fact that there is not very any country, even those whose teams are not lucky to take part, where this fever has not spread.
No other sport has such a large worldwide following like soccer & this is one of the main reasons why all eyes are riveted towards the date when the soccer world cup will finally take place. South Africa is the most developed and powerful country in Africa, with a population close to 50 million people in 9 provinces, with 11 official languages.
Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg are a quantity of the better known major cities and in each of them a new multi billion Rand stadium has been built specifically for the world cup.
These new stadiums have been done on schedule as well as a few friendlies have been played in order to break in the staff and tighten up on procedures and security protocols.
The South Africans are a soccer mad nation and organizers are billing this World Cup as the most exciting World Cup of all. Huge spectator parks have been constructed and each and every city is going to be a hive of activity and entertainment.
For those that are not able to attend every game, there is an abundance of activities for tourists of every persuasion to enjoy. There is a game park, within a short drive of every city, where visitors can enjoy viewing the Sizable 5 and an abundance of African wildlife.
The host team will be playing with all their hearts and the hearts of every South African when they take on the world, in June this year.
The South African National Soccer Team, is called Bafana, which means "The Boys" and they are characterized by their yellow and green kit.
After successfully hosting both the Rugby World Cups, the Cricket World Cup, The Confederations Cup and other major events, the South African method is tried and tested.

Hotels and hospitality venues have been revamping and making changes to conform to FIFA's strict standards for approved vendors. Cities have been torn apart and put back together again, in preparation for a quarter of a million soccer fans to come and party.
The eyes of the entire world will be glued on South Africa and the hopes and dreams of every nation will be on on winning that cup.
